The TechnologyIP Exchange was
developed as part of the process of the development of Technology
Brokerage operations within a firm. The object was to separate out the
actual operations of the brokering from the brokerage so that the scope
of the business can be compartmentalized into two groups of operations
both for centralization of the activities that are most likely to be
common to all technology brokerage firms, and ultimately to so isolate
these common operations as to be shared by other prospective
technology brokerage firms.
Accordingly, the TechnologyIP
Exchange is a central trading platform for Technology Intellectual
Property Rights between acquirers of such rights and developer-owners of
such rights. In this platform context, technology brokers granted
trading rights on the platform represents licensee and licensor and
brokers the acquisition of the rights to a technology and the subsequent
adoption of the underlying technology in the licensee business
operations. Technology adopters interested in
becoming licensees are generally encouraged to contact and retain one of the
brokers listed as a representative for scouting the
technology and listee-brokerage, and to then negotiate the acquisition
of the rights with the listee-broker.
The Exchange Platform is essentially
a platforms-collective provisioning the environment supporting and
enabling the brokering of listed IP-Rights
through a virtual Trading Pit and communication infrastructure
for exchanging the terms of brokered rights and ultimately the execution
- remotely if necessary -
of licensing agreements. The Interfaces of the platforms collective, however, are located
squarely within the facilities of the trading Technology
Brokers, effectively and essentially making the Exchange Platform a data storage and
exchange nexus for the benefits of trader brokers.
